AUTOKINITON is seeking a dedicated and experienced Sr. Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team in Chicago, IL. As a Sr. Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems that are critical to our manufacturing processes. Your primary responsibilities will include developing control strategies, programming PLCs, designing HMI interfaces, and ensuring the seamless integration of new systems with existing infrastructure. Required Skills
- Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens)
- Experience with HMI/SCADA development and configuration
- Strong understanding of control system architecture and networking
- Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, and other motion control technologies
- Ability to design and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams
- Familiarity with safety systems and compliance with industry safety standards
- Proficient in the use of CAD software for control system design
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to manage projects from conception to completion
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis for process optimization

Required Experience
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in control engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry
- Proven track record of designing and implementing complex control systems
- Hands-on experience with automation, robotics, and system integration
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and technical staff
- Experience with industry-specific software and hardware platforms
- History of successful project management, including budgeting and scheduling
- Prior involvement in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a timely manner
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and ensuring compliance in engineering practices
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field
- Active participation in professional organizations or continuous education programs
- Experience with international standards and working with global teams is a plus
