    Job Summary

    We are looking to add a dynamic and personable controls estimator who can help us develop estimates and quotes for a variety of engineering and production projects.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding or background in manufacturing and engineering skills, including: specifying components and pricing (mechanical & electrical) and estimating manufacturing labor hours, plus some project management skills to manage the quote process from development to completion.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    Estimate costs and write proposals related to UL 508a and NFPA 79 controls, custom automated machinery, and material handling equipment. Knowledge of electro-mechanical components used in the automation industry is important.

    Clearly and accurately define labor hours, material costs, and outside service costs for detailed parts, assemblies, and tooling.

    Work closely with outside vendors to obtain technical information and pricing required to properly select the correct components for applications being quoted.

    Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, including some design, involving all relevant stakeholders.

    Manage changes to project scope, schedules, and costs while coordinating with the sales and engineering teams to manage customer expectations. Acquire change orders and customer authorization where appropriate.

    Meet quote deadlines and expedited requests from customers.

    Demonstrate good presence and congeniality when speaking technically in front of groups (co-workers & customers).

    Follow up on quotes sent to customers and manage quotes and quote requests in the queue.

    Perform hands-on engineering when necessary to complete projects.

    Use various software (Exact Online/AutoCAD/ Solidworks, etc.) to assist in reviewing drawings and generating quotes.

    Qualifications and Skills

    Associates degree in an electronics or business-related field or equivalent experience. Five plus years of electrical controls programming and/or production experience and experience in a costing and/or proposal role.
