We are helping a premier Systems Integrator specializing in designing and building industrial control systems and custom manufacturing equipment, to find an experienced Controls Specialist. This company serves a variety of industries, including automotive, chemical, manufacturing, food & beverage, pulp & paper, and wood products. Their expert team includes electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, controls specialists, and electrical assembly personnel.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a company that excels in PLC control systems, industrial robotics, motor controls, vision systems, and custom manufacturing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical control panels for machinery and systems.
- Create and implement PLC and HMI programs.
- Develop systems that meet current safety standards.
- Commission and troubleshoot VFDs, servo motor applications, and industrial networking systems.
- Manage individual projects, including budget control, customer communication, scheduling, installation, and startup.
- Program and integrate industrial robots (e.g., FANUC) — desirable but not mandatory.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet), motor control systems, servo drives, and electrical distribution systems.
- Occasional travel required (approx. 25%).
Qualifications:
- Technical Degree in industrial control automation or a related field.
- Proven experience in PLC programming, with a preference for Rockwell Automation and GE/Emerson products.
- Expertise in electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and designing HMI and control network components.
- Hands-on experience with motor controls (e.g., motor starters, VFDs, DC drives).
- Strong background in troubleshooting industrial electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems.
- Ability to interpret, modify, and create mechanical and electrical drawings.
