Position Description:
The Converting Operator is responsible for operating converting packaging equipment efficiently and accurately to produce high-quality printed materials that meet customer specifications. This role requires adherence to production schedules, quality control processes, and company standards for safety, efficiency, and productivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate different converting packaging equipment according to established procedures and standards to
- produce high-quality printed materials.
- Adhere to the schedule as directed by the Production Supervisor.
- Ensure production orders are executed accurately and efficiently to meet priority needs.
- Thoroughly read and accurately complete instructions from the Job Ticket, including quantity, frames, footage, and other specifications.
- Read, understand, and execute instructions from the Job Ticket to set up the press.
- Report any orders with incorrect or missing instructions to the Production Lead or Production Supervisor before proceeding.
- Notify the Production Lead or Production Supervisor if instructions are unclear.
- Verify that all components are allocated and appropriate for the current job.
- Notify the Production Lead or Production Supervisor if components are missing.
- Scan components as required to ensure proper tracking and documentation.
- Record all press-related times and footage using the iPad interface for accurate tracking and documentation.
- Conduct a line clearance at the end of each order to prevent any intermixed products.
- Accurately fill out Quality Control (QC) forms established for the product.
- Conduct tests according to the product being run.
- Obtain necessary sign-offs prior to producing the job to ensure that all specifications and quality standards are met.
- Run samples to make adjustments to print quality or color as needed to meet customer specifications.
- Isolate and quarantine nonconforming products, report to the Production Lead or Production Supervisor, and follow the corresponding procedures.
- Conduct a line clearance at the end of each order.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the work area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Maintain performance within established ranges for waste and productivity.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Address minor mechanical issues and notify the Production Lead or Production Supervisor of any major equipment problems.
- Complete required training according to the job position’s training path to stay updated on skills and procedures.
