We are looking for a reliable and experienced Cook to join our team at a behavioral health treatment center. The ideal candidate will have a passion for preparing nutritious, balanced meals and a strong understanding of dietary needs in a healthcare environment. The Cook plays a vital role in promoting wellness and recovery by providing clients with quality food that supports their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals according to daily menus, scheduled meal times, and dietary guidelines.
Ensure all meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and meet dietary requirements, including special diets as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, food prep areas, and storage spaces in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Monitor food inventory, track supplies, and notify appropriate staff when orders or restocking are needed.
Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures at all times.
Work collaboratively with clinical staff to support any dietary needs specific to clients’ treatment plans.
Assist in developing weekly meal plans that align with facility standards and patient needs.
Ensure meals are served in a timely, respectful, and professional manner.
Adapt to schedule changes and last-minute meal adjustments as needed.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude, supporting a welcoming environment for clients and staff.
Requirements & Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 1 year experience as a cook in a healthcare, behavioral health, or institutional setting preferred.
Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs for individuals in recovery preferred.
Current Food Handler’s Permit or ability to obtain upon hire.
Ability to follow recipes and adjust ingredients as necessary.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism within a healthcare setting.
