The Cook/Grill Cook responsibilities will be but not limited to:
· Managing large scale food operations in a healthcare setting and multi-retail environment.
· Adhering to dress code, sanitation and safety policies.
· Preparing meals that are nutritious and esthetically pleasing.
· Engaging with the customer to get feedback on meals so that adjustments and improvements can be made.
· Demonstrate knife safety and culinary skills.
· Read recipes and follow directions.
· Access inventory to be sure of what is on hand and what is needed.
· Be a good steward of the budget and resources allocated to the department.
· Provides leadership through personal example and relationship building with department staff.
· Support cultural diversity and inclusivity.
· Help the department to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals.
· Upholds Lemontree Healthcare’s mission and maintains professional growth within the organization.
· Learns patient tray line to understand patient diets.
· Assist with catering and other hospital meal events.
· Prepares meal for BHU (and deliver)
· Cleans kitchen area and workstation as directed.
· Must demonstrate knowledge of HACCP guidelines.
· Plates food so that it is appealing.
· Conducts temperature checks on food during service.
· Calibrates thermometers.
· Utilizes correction portion sizes for patient tray line.
· Reports meal adjustments and recipe changes for approval before making changes.
· Participates in meetings and trainings.
· Always exudes a positive attitude.
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manages workflow well when the pace is slow.
· Adjust meal preparation to the patient census to avoid excessive food waste.
· Keeps utensils clean during service and avoids cross contamination.
· Helps with grocery delivery and organization of delivery.
· Reports shortage or low stock items so that reorders can be made.
· Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Education Requirement – Highschool diploma, passion for cooking and learning and 5 years of equivalent experience work experience Basic Management Experience – N/A Basic Functional Experience – Be well versed in regulatory and sanitation practices
