JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED or 1-2 years comparable experience
- "2" years previous high volume institutional cooking required -- EXPERIENCE IN HEALTHCARE MEAL PREPARTION HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Must be able to work from recipes
- Basic math skills required
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to read write and speak English.
- Ability to work under time constraints
- Certified in Food Service Sanitation by the State of Illinois and City of Chicago.

JOB OVERIVEW
- Demonstrates the WMH Customer Service Values, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers.
- Prepares high quality food that is also visually appealing -
- Prepares hot food by following the appropriate recipes and using the correct portion size.
- Follows production records to determine the proper amount to be prepared. Fills out production records at the end of the shift.
- Utilizes perishables by FIFO inventory method.
- Participates in patient tray line by assembling trays in a timely and efficient manner. Pays close attention to plate appearance and food temperatures.
- Prepares food a timely basis to be ready for use during the required meal period. Pre-preparation of food are done for the next days meals as appropriate.
- Follows the board of health and JACHO guidelines for safe handling of food and equipment. Uses proper sanitizing techniques after cleaning equipment.
- Maintains food at proper holding temperatures. Always wears proper hair covering and keeps hands clean at all times.
- Keeps work area clean and orderly throughout the shift and at the end of shift. Puts food away according to HAACP guidelines.
- Demonstrates responsibility for own professional practice and growth by ensuring knowledge and skills are maintained and enhanced. Supports and maintains current knowledge of organizational and unit policies and procedures.
