Since 1923, Co-operative Plating Co is your one-stop source for plating. We offer over 100 processes at our facility and provide new finishes as the industry changes. Our company dedicates itself to growth and expansion as we add exciting finishes that accommodate our customers’ needs.
We offer a comprehensive benefit package and team environment. Co-operative Plating Co. will provide training, via our apprenticeship program, for an individual to master the plating process on a given plating line and cross-train for other lines.
Required Experience:
Platers do not need previous experience, but familiarity with metal finishing is preferred.
Basic mechanical ability and English fluency is a plus. High school diploma required.
Platers will be fully trained, as required, via our apprenticeship program.
Required Skills:
Employee must be able to bend, lift, and twist repeatedly throughout a shift. They must be able to lift up to 75 pounds from the floor to chest level occasionally. They must be able to frequently hold up to 10 pounds with arms outstretched (hanging parts on a rack). They must be familiar with a manual hoist and use it per safety and operating instructions (moving/lifting racks from one tank to another). Both arms and legs must be used throughout the shift. This is not a light duty position, with high temperatures and humidity in summertime.
Ability to work well with others, respect fellow employees, and follow directions accurately.
Ability to read basic English on customer orders.
Basic fluency in speaking and understanding English, a plus.
Possess a “can do”, positive attitude.
Ability to learn new skills and advance in the plater classification.
Report to work on time with consistent attendance.
Effective in a fast paced, variable workplace.
Confidence to ask for help and not assume when processing customer parts.
Consistently follow all safety and environmental work rules.

Essential Duties:
A plater will be familiar with all the processing baths on a respective line, the function of each bath, (i.e. a soak cleaner vs. an electro cleaner) and the processing order or routine.
They shall be able to read and understand router slips, prints, work orders, or special instruction sheets, and follow them correctly.
They shall understand necessary quality criteria, such as thickness and cosmetic appearance, parts handling/packaging, and be proficient at performing final inspection for that finish.
Platers will be familiar with proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials. They must be trained in and follow proper pumping procedures for changing tanks.
They will place safety and quality first in their daily work duties.
