    Coordinator Position (Part-time – 19 hours per week)

    Office for Black Catholics

    Scope of Work:

    Assist the Office for Black Catholics with community outreach, information dissemination and event coordination. Partner with the Director of the OBC to coordinate an Archdiocesan presence at the events and programs in the parishes in the Black Catholic Apostolate. Research and prepare grant requests to support activities of the OBC and the Black Catholic Community. To assist in the coordination of programs, coursework and classes offered in conjunction with and by St Charles Seminary that minister to the Black Catholic Community.

    The goal is to utilize the additional assistance of the Coordinator to improve the effectiveness of the OBC in planning and executing programs and processes that effectively support the pastors and staff in building up the Black Catholic Community.

    Projected Duties

    • Serve as a liaison between all Seminary students, OBC students and IBC students receiving grants from the Martin dePorres Foundation

    • Facilitate the application process for candidates seeking funding from the Martin dePorres Foundation

    • Support all students receiving scholarships in their academic endeavors and their transition to lay leaders in their respective parishes

    • Collaborate with the Executive Director of the Martin dePorres Foundation as needed to support programs and ensure proper funding

    • Coordinate the promotion of all educational opportunities for Black Catholics for the offered programs

    • Assist in serving as a resource person to Pastors, Directors of Religious Education and Catholic school principals to predominately Black parishes for all educational opportunities offered through those programs promoted by the OBC

    • Recruit new students each semester

    • Collaborate with the OBC in evangelization efforts by promoting events, programs and resources to the Black Catholic Community

    • Maintenance of Database

    • Serves as an “ex-officio” member of the Visionary Leadership Team of the OBC

    • Prepares a report to the Visionary Leadership Teams

    • Assist with the coordination and preparations for the various events and programs of the OBC, including but not limited to:

    • Annual Martin dePorres Celebration

    • Annual Martin Luther King Inter-faith service

    • Annual celebration for Mitchell Scholars

    • Various Archdiocesan events and programs

    • Research various funding resources for the availability of grant dollars to support the activities of the OBC and the parishes in the Black Apostolate

    • Follow up on outstanding requests and reports as required

    • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills

    • The ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a diverse community

    • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials

    • Information research skills

    • Organizing and coordinating skills

    • Knowledge and operating skills for computer operations, remote access, file uploading/downloading, HTML/XHT

    • Ability to access various social media sites for use in marketing OBC activities
