  • Responsibilities

    The overall objective of the CNC Operator Trainee is to function as an effective and valuable member of the Point Eight Power Fabrication team by
    helping & learning all activates concerned with producing parts by operating a CNC machine.

    Essential Accountabilities
     Support the effort of being a best-in-class manufacturer by:
     Assisting the CNC machine operator in creating all the parts that are required by the parts list, as dictated by the program list.
     Assisting in the repair maintenance of the machines, as required.
     Organizing completed parts for the next phase of manufacturing.
     Completing works in process tickets to assure accurate inventory counts.
     Performing necessary side operations during machine cycle time, such as pulling metal for next program, maintaining and sharpening tools, and replacing tools as necessary.
     Maintaining a safe, clean, well-organized work area.
     Developing competencies in order to become a 3rd class CNC machine operator

    Required Skills

     Intrapersonal Skills: Self-motivated and able to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently from others.
    Hold a strong regard for guidelines, procedures and integrity.

     Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other
    techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

     Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans,
    blueprints, drawings, and models.

     Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Tools include:
    Allen wrenches, grinders, break press, punch press, forklift, crane, shears and calipers

     Technical Experience: excellent mechanical skills and aptitude in supporting CNC sheet metal equipment, ability to
    visualize 3D parts from cut sheets. Good math skills and qualified in basic computer skills.

     Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and
    programming

     Manual Dexterity: The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to
    grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

     Verbal & Written Communication Skills: This position requires basic skills (ability to read and interpret documents
    such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports
    and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.)

     Math Skills: This position requires intermediate skills (calculate figures/discounts, proportions, area, etc.

    Required Experience

    Less than 1 year of sheet metal fabrication experience, required.

     Less than 1 year of CNC operator experience, preferred.
