About the Role: You’ll lead transactional matters, guide compliance decisions, and help shape the long-term value and stability of growing businesses. This is a non-equity partner role with revenue-based compensation, offering autonomy, flexibility, and full support from our team in marketing, billing, and client success. Responsibilities: Core Legal Responsibilities: • Serve as outside general counsel to a curated portfolio of business clients in construction, media, tech/software, and related industries • Lead and manage contract drafting, negotiation, and risk analysis for a wide range of commercial agreements • Guide legal strategy on matters involving M&A, capital raises, IP, employment, governance, and compliance • Translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable business advice that drives client growth • Act as lead counsel on select strategic transactions, ensuring alignment with both legal and business objectives Business Development & Client Relationship Responsibilities: • Build and grow your book of business by cultivating long-term client relationships through value-driven service • Leverage the firm’s marketing, brand, and thought leadership platforms to attract and retain ideal clients • Collaborate with SAGE’s leadership team to define your niche, optimize your market presence, and establish your reputation as a trusted advisor • Use speaking, content, networking, or referrals to position yourself as a go-to legal strategist for founder-led businesses • Participate in firm-led business development initiatives, events, and referral programs to expand your reach and impact Strategic & Cultural Contribution: • Uphold and model our firm values—challenging the status quo, intentional growth, loving candor, giving back, and freedom • Mentor and support team members through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and leadership in your practice area • Bring a proactive mindset to every matter—identifying issues before they escalate and creating systems to support sustainable growth for clients and for the firm Qualifications: • Have 7+ years’ experience in business or corporate law • Can analyze, negotiate, and close deals with clarity and confidence • Thrive in fast-paced, founder-driven environments and speak the language of growth • Have a US law license in one of the following states: GA, FL, AL, TN, NC, TX, AZ, UT, NY, CA • Are energized by real client relationships and the ability to drive strategic impact, not just mitigate liability Compensation: $125 - $150 hourly
