Job Summary

We are seeking a Cost Accountant to manage job costs, oversee payroll, handle onboarding and benefits administration, and ensure compliance with accounting standards. This role requires a strong understanding of debits, credits, and GAAP, with proficiency in QuickBooks Online as a must.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Accounting: Track and manage job costs for construction projects, ensuring accurate allocation of labor, materials, and other expenses to support financial accuracy. Manage bank reconciliations and accrual entries.

Payroll & HR Support: Process payroll through Paylocity, manage onboarding and benefits administration, maintain employee records, and ensure compliance with labor laws.

General Accounting: Record and reconcile transactions in alignment with GAAP principles, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements.

Job Costing in QuickBooks Online: Utilize QuickBooks Online for job costing, tracking expenses, and maintaining organized records for project accounting.

Compliance & Documentation: Maintain organized records for audits and ensure adherence to internal policies and industry regulations.

HR Policies & Employee Relations: Oversee company policies, conduct employee performance reviews, and help maintain a positive work environment.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: 2+ years in cost accounting; HR experience in the construction industry is a plus but not required.

Skills:

Proficiency in job costing and general accounting principles

Knowledge of GAAP, debits and credits, and construction project cost tracking

QuickBooks Online proficiency is required

Familiarity with payroll systems, especially Paylocity, is beneficial

Spanish language skills are a plus

Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
