    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced Cost Accounting System Consultant with a proven track record in Cost Accounting System (CAS) system analysis and requirements gathering to support federal compliance efforts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of multiple CAS systems, and be able to provide broad business insights to ensure that the system meets organizational needs and federal requirements. The candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication and client-facing abilities.

    This position is an on-site role located in Reston, VA. This W-2 Hourly role with be working with an initial scope of 3 months with the possibility of extension.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide experienced and expert guidance with written recommendations on the business, functional, and technical requirements to stand-up a new CAS system.
    • Assess and advise recommendations on design, development, operations, and support practices, and system needs to support a new system.
    • Ensure the cost accounting system aligns with industry regulations, government compliance standards, and financial reporting requirements.
    • Assess capabilities, specifically in the areas of system audits and compliance reporting, as well as the user experience.
    • Educate finance teams and key stakeholders on cost accounting methodologies, system functionalities, and best practices to maximize system effectiveness and ensure informed decision-making.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or a related field.
    • Years of Experience: 6+ years of experience in federal government contracting working with accounting software and tools.
    • Proven experience in implementation and/or consulting role with cost accounting systems in a federal contracting environment.
    • Familiarity with leading CAS systems and the software used currently with FED CON vendors, system integrators, and organizations which serve Federal Government agencies.
    • Experience and familiarity with CAS policies, procedures, and internal controls supported by leading systems, as well as the ability to compare, to benchmark, and to assess differences in CAS systems.
    • Experience in mapping source and target cost accounting system data to assess business, functional, and technical requirements for CAS implementation.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office suite for presentation and internal reporting.
    • Ability to interpret complex regulations, standards, and rules.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in federal cost accounting.
