Job Description
A Knock At Midnight (AKAM), is looking for a part-time Counselling Social Worker to join our team and help young adults between the ages of 18 to 24 to whom we provide Information Technology training services live better lives by helping them develop problem-solving skills to address anxiety, emotional, and traumatic issues.
The Counseling Social Worker’s responsibilities include building relationships with young adults by listening to and assisting them in developing habits that improve their lives and overcome stress, anxiety, and behavioral issues.
The Counseling Social Worker will work directly with young adults to understand and address their anxiety and emotional needs to help them live healthier lives.
Counseling Social Worker’s responsibilities include:
Schedule individual and group sessions to help build relationships
Assess young adults to identify their problems
Evaluate and assess individuals to create and employ counseling plans based on individual needs
Adjust counseling plans as needed
Engage in discussions with young adults to ensure they feel comfortable
Record student information and manage confidential files
Establish collaborative working relationship with young adults based on trust and respect
Empower young adults to address their issues, take control of them, and make positive changes to their behavior
Requirements and skills
Proven work experience as a Counseling Social Worker or similar role
Strong observational skills and attention to detail
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Express empathy and sensitivity when dealing with young adults
Highly analytical mindset
Good problem-solving skills
Relevant training and/or certifications as a Counseling, Social Work, or related field
Qualifications
· At minimum, bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field.
· Excellent Verbal Communication Skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office
· At least one to three years experience in counseling
Skills and relevant work experience:
· Interpersonal skills, excellent capacity to build a trusting relationship with young adults
· Analytical skills, will need to evaluate young adults to discover their issues
· Written communication skills, will need to keep detailed client reports and must be able to write well
· Empathy and compassion, must be able to work with young adults who experience various issues including but not limited to, bereavement, domestic violence, traumas, anxiety, depressions, etc.
· Non-judgmental approach, must not pass judgement or advice onto young adults’ actions or feelings
