General Job Responsibilities: • Customer Service: Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner as they enter the store. Provide personalized assistance and product recommendations based on their specific requirements. • Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of our product catalog, including various industrial gases, welding rods, welding machines, safety equipment, and related consumables. • Order Processing: Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently at the counter, ensuring correct pricing, discounts, and payment collection. • Technical Support: Offer expert technical advice and guidance to customers regarding the selection, usage, and maintenance of welding equipment, gas cylinders, and related products. • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate stock levels at the counter, restocking shelves as needed, and coordinating with the warehouse to ensure product availability. • Upselling and Cross-selling: Identify opportunities to upsell additional products, accessories, or safety gear that align with the customer's purchase and application. • Safety Compliance: Educate customers about safety regulations and best practices related to the proper handling, storage, and usage of industrial gases and welding equipment. • Customer Relationship Building: Establish and nurture strong customer relationships to foster loyalty and repeat business. • Order Pick-up Coordination: Assist customers with order pick-ups, loading products into their vehicles safely and efficiently. • Cash Management: Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and maintain accurate records of daily sales. • Store Maintenance: Ensure the store's appearance is clean, organized, and presentable always, including the store displays and promotional materials. • Collaborative Approach: Coordinate with the customer service team, plant, distribution, and other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
Specific Job Responsibilities: • Be the Company’s first point of contact: Answer all phone calls and handle all in-person visits from new and existing customers. Nurture and grow existing customer relationships. Make sure that no customer is left unattended. Increase existing and walk-in customers’ average transaction size (upsell). • Prepare a list of 5 most important to-do’s/pending items to complete and send it to all team members every Monday morning. • Responsible for daily preparation of the Counter Sales Journal ensuring total accuracy in quantities and pricing. Deliver daily to Management for processing. • Manage control of in-process customer-owned cylinder orders and coordinate with Plant Manager to ensure on time delivery to customers. • Perform weekly store inventory and present to management every Friday. • Assist customers who pull up to the front dock, safely move cylinders from dock to customers’ vehicles for safe customer loading. • Use cylinder barcode scanning system to scan cylinders throughout the entire sales and filling process. Make sure all information is entered accurately and always fix inaccurate information. • Escalate customer concerns/inquiries when necessary. Being able to identify and pass on new potential customer leads to Sales. • Follow up and respond to customer emails within 24 hours (preferably less). • Communicate requested customer deliveries to Customer Service, Inside Sales, and the Distribution Manager. Ensure all information is accurate and communicated clearly on the delivery sheet and/or delivery tickets. • Ensure customers are paying their bills within their payment terms. Ask customers to pay past-due amounts before proceeding with the next purchase. • Track daily productivity diligently (i.e., number of calls received and placed, number of in-person visits attended to, number of cylinders filled, etc.) • Take one IWDC Vendor + other Supplier webinars or courses weekly to broaden knowledge of gas and welding applications.
