Job Description
Craig-Hallum Capital Group is seeking a qualified candidate as a sell-side Equity Research Associate to join its Healthcare team in Minneapolis. The successful candidate will work directly with the Senior Research Analysts on many aspects of the research process including following publicly traded healthcare companies, building and updating financial models, conducting scientific and clinical due diligence, writing investment-driven research reports, developing and fielding industry surveys, identifying and contacting thought leaders and physician experts, and keeping track of the competitive landscape and market trends. The associate will have broad exposure to company management, investor conferences, and the process that is involved in making investment recommendations. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Financial model building and updating, competitive analysis, market research, literature reviews, and company research. Candidates must be knowledgeable and proficient in constructing dynamic operating models in Excel with the three financial statements, revenue forecasts, profitability assumptions, and ratio/margin analyses. Perform valuation analysis such as discounted cash flow analysis, dividend discount models, and other valuation calculations including, but not limited to, earnings, sales, cash flow and tangible book. Assist Analysts with compilation and evaluation of all relevant research and information pertaining to equity investment ideas, their respective markets and their competitors, customers, suppliers and any other entities which might have a meaningful impact on a company's financial outcomes. Ability to research company filings, speak with company management and industry thought leaders, review financial news sources, and contact government and industry organizations. Maintain and ensure accuracy of financial models, analyses and archives. Provide time sensitive summaries of earnings conference calls to Analysts to assist in evaluating recent company news and performance. Disseminate information to internal departments as applicable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-Exceptional academic credentials in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Biology or a related science field
-Strong organizational and communication skills, including both verbal and writing skills
-Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, DCF, revenue builds, creating operating models in Excel
-Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-2+ years of related investment experience or fundamental analysis
-Knowledge of and experience using Thomson One, Factset or Bloomberg
-Strong work ethic, self motivation, attention to detail, and interest in public equities
-Additional background in healthcare, enrollment in the CFA program, and/or FINRA licensing are strong pluses
