POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the analysis of all relevant credit and financial data used in evaluating the creditworthiness of commercial borrowers and in producing a comprehensive and objective credit analysis in order to assist management in the risk oversight of the commercial loan portfolio. Assigned borrowers are among the least complex in the portfolio with requests consisting primarily of annual reviews of commercial real estate (“CRE”) loans and line of credit renewals for relationships under $3MM. May underwrite new loans to existing borrowers. Guidance in daily work is provided by the VP/Credit Manager and other team members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops an understanding of the Baker Hill financial statement spreading software and produces accurate results with some guidance from other team members. Uses resulting “spreads” to evaluate financial condition and ability to repay commercial loans.
- Analyzes financial information such as CPA-prepared financials and corporate tax returns; develops and demonstrates an understanding of basic liquidity and leverage ratios, how to use the key financial statements, and where to find information in the footnotes.
- Calculates basic cash flow and prepares accurate debt repayment schedules. Develops an awareness of potential adjustments that may be necessary such as those related to unfinanced capex, shareholder advances, etc. Appropriately reconciles and accounts for all debt service.
- Prepares basic collateral analysis with appropriate advance rates, values and balances; develops an understanding of commercial real estate appraisals. Develops an understanding of the appropriate means of collateral perfection depending on collateral-type.
- Researches the borrower’s industry and identifies related risks using resources such as RMA E-Mentor, REIS database, and any publicly available information.
- Completes numerical analyses and prepares objective written analyses for use in lending decisions and risk management. Analyses are complete and well-written.
- Makes risk rating recommendations in accordance with Loan Policy.
- Tests financial covenants, where applicable.
- Researches UCC filings.
- Orders and evaluates credit reports.
- Provides credit information and references to loan officers and authorized external sources.
- May attend customer meetings with lending officer.
- Works with Portfolio Managers and Documentation Specialist in tracking and scanning financial reporting requirements.
- Must complete BSA, AML, and other regulatory and continuing education as assigned.
- Must adhere to all bank and regulatory policies and procedures specific to position.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

Education/Experience/Skills ****
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or relevant work experience preferred.
