Crew Leader/Operator
The Crew Lead is primarily responsible for working with and leading a crew of field laborers to install erosion and sediment controls (e.g. silt fence, inlet protection) that are commonly used as Best Management Practices (BMPs) at construction sites.
Requirements:
Oversee jobs performed by crew ensuring excellence and efficiency.
Estimate time required for work orders and monitor the time taken to complete jobs.
Delegate tasks while leading the crew by example.
Lead and train team in installing, maintaining, and repairing sediment and erosion control measures (silt fence, inlet protection, turbidity barriers) at construction sites
Operate hand tools, power tools, and light construction equipment
Safely and efficiently drive and operate a company vehicle and trailer.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Travel:
The Crew Lead frequently travels to construction sites throughout the Montgomery area and works in the field using a shovel, sledgehammer, power tools, and light construction equipment.
This position requires working outdoors with prolonged exposure to the sun.
The Crew Lead works a standard work week, Monday- Friday mostly in the field; and may be required to work extended hours and weekends, as needed.
On occasion, the Crew Lead may travel to other regions in Alabama/Florida to support SpreadRite’s growth in new regions.
Physical Requirements:
To complete the field duties associated with this position, the Crew Lead must be able to:
wear standard PPE (hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, work boots);
work outdoors in the sun;
walk, at times, long distances over a variety of terrain;
work in various positions, including but not limited to walking, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods; and be able to lift to 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout an assigned workday
Minimum Qualifications
HS diploma or GED
1-2 years of experience leading a crew at construction sites.
Some experience with construction phases, landscaping, or similar field experience.
Willing to learn new skills (operate trencher, ride-on blower, skid steer, other equipment)
Work independently and as a team member
Good attendance and driving record
Preferred Qualifications
2 or more years of experience, installing/repairing silt fences, inlet protection, and other common BMPs used at construction sites.
