Own the Courtroom You need to be comfortable doing this stuff: • Investigate criminal cases and provide legal advice to prospective clients. • Communicate effectively and professionally with staff, clients, opposing counsel, law enforcement, and experts. • Consistently document case status in the firm’s case management system. • Research case law, statutes, rules, and forensic science. • Draft, review, and edit motions, briefs, and discovery requests. • Attend scheduled court hearings and argue motions. • Cross-examine or depose experts, other parties, and witnesses. • Negotiate and resolve cases before trial while maximizing outcomes for clients. • Prepare cases for a jury trial and take them from start to finish.
