    The Crisis Center for South Suburbia is a non-profit community organization that provides emergency shelter and other essential services for individuals and families victimized by domestic violence and addresses the societal issues that contribute to domestic violence.

    Today, the Crisis Center for South Suburbia operates a 54-bed emergency shelter and has an annual impact on the lives of more than 10,000 people. With a staff of more than 85 employees and a budget of over seven million dollars, the Crisis Center continues to grow while offering free services to Chicago’s south suburban communities.

    JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Donation Pick Up Duties:

    Pick up donated household items at residential or commercial locations as directed by dispatch.

    Adhere to the routing and pick up schedule each week.

    Provide excellent customer service and be a linking person with donors.

    Serve as liaison between donors and the agency and ensure that all donors feel like difference-makers during the donation pick up process.

    Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices including safe lifting and moving techniques, storing donations and product, and loss prevention.

    Maintain regular communications with dispatch throughout the course of each day. Notify dispatch immediately of any challenges, delays, or unanticipated hurdles.

    Maintain cleanliness within the cab and bed of designated truck.

    Donation Delivery Duties:

    Deliver donations to the pre-approved locations following pick up and aligned with the daily route plan.

    Follow the safe lifting agency standards and delivery limitations outlined for each type of delivery location.

    Be professional and adhere to customer services standards when interfacing with customers at the stores or clients of the agency.

    When delivering furniture and household goods to clients, work collaboratively with the Housing Team to coordinate delivery and unit access, ensuring client confidentiality at all times.

    When delivering purchased goods to NR customer homes follow the delivery protocol standards and agency safety standards.

    Unload furniture and other larger donated items directly onto the sales floor following the store managers direction for placement of items.

    Assist store manager with any rearranging of in store items to ensure the best merchandising of goods.

    Serve as the face of the agency making sure all customers feel like difference-makers during donation deliveries and furniture merchandising moves.

    Remove any sold items to the pick-up area as directed by store manager.

    As needed, sort and differentiate usable donations from trash; maintaining high standards of saleable merchandise and identifying items that could be used for client needs.

    Load and unload items and properly sort donations into recycle bins following the recycle policies.

    Bag leather goods for textile recycle program separate from clothing. Including tying/taping shoes together.

    Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout all processes.

    Ensure the unloading zone in the warehouse, thrift store garages, and truck parking and dock areas are free and clear of any hazards and well organized to ensure efficiency.

    Works cooperatively with other Crisis Center employees, supervisor, volunteers, clients, and the public at all times.

    Remove any sold items to the pick-up area as directed by store manager.

    As needed, sort and differentiate usable donations from trash; maintaining high standards of saleable merchandise and identifying items that could be used for client needs.
