    Position Title: Cross Country Coach Department: Athletics

    Classification: 1099 Independent Contractor Reports To: Athletic Director

    Position Summary: The Cross Country Coach works closely with the Athletic Director and is responsible for creating and supporting various aspects of the cross country program, such as program development, training, and coaching team members. The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by The Cambridge School of Dallas. Cambridge is a member of the TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF PRIVATE AND PAROCHIAL SCHOOLS Conference (TAPPS).

    Job Duties:

    • Encourages, trains, and coaches the participants within the program.
    • Helps organize practice sessions.
    • Represents The Cambridge School of Dallas and the cross country and athletic program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship.
    • Possesses Cross Country or Track/coaching experience.
    • Enjoys coaching and working with children, ages 10-18.
    • Has reliable transportation and can comply with the Cambridge Fleet Policy which includes a valid driver’s license, valid proof of insurance, and participation in driver safety training provided by the school.
    • Possesses a positive attitude and can share a passion of running and Christ with students!
    • Maintains a strong commitment to the student-athlete concept.
    • Displays effective leadership, coaching and communication skills.
    • Maintains good communication skills with players, parents, and the athletic department, potentially utilizing Blackbaud as a means of communication among other technologies.
    • Part-time; late summer/early Fall; M-F with occasional Saturday.
    • On & off-Campus responsibilities.
    • Predominant practices at 5:30AM until 7AM but sometimes 3PM until 5PM.
    • Coaching responsibilities may result in extended weekday/weekend commitments for games, including travel.
    • Requires frequent activities requiring physical exertion, including but not limited to standing, kneeling, crouching, bending, exercising, and driving.

    Minimum Educational Background: High School Diploma; must be 18 years of age or older.

    Previous Related Experience: coaching experience required; TAPPS experience preferred, but not required.
