We are seeking an experienced Culinary Manager for our operations at a private school cafe and meal plan program. The school is providing lifelong individualized services for people with developmental and social disabilities, empowering them to live independent and self-determined lives. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned, entrepreneurial chef who is constantly seeking better ways to improve the kitchen. This key leadership position is directly responsible for the successful operation of 2 unique cafes on the campus. The Culinary Manager ensures client, customer service/satisfaction with efficient cost effective management that both meets and exceeds expectations.
Key Duties/Essential Job Functions:
Supervision of Café Operations, inclusive of managing the Café Supervisor and other CHSC Café staff & volunteers. Recognizing many Chapel Haven employees within the cafés are Chapel Haven adults, on-going support and mentoring for success will be expected. Management of the day-to-day operations of the Cafés include, but is not limited to:
Coordinating and overseeing all operations, activities, and events onsite in each Café and offsite, where applicable. Cooking & preparing meals when needed to support coverage or the influx of orders/events, menu development, meals-to-go, pricing, ordering/inventory, monitoring food costs/expenses, as well as the modeling, cleaning, and supervision of safety standards and proper food storage.
Ensures that all Café food offerings maintain the highest quality and wellness guidelines, routinely performing customer satisfaction surveys. Builds in educational opportunities for CHSC staff/student community such as internships, career exploring, volunteering on/off site, monthly or quarterly cultural events (via a diverse menu), hosting food demos, café events (cook-outs, special meals, welcome dinners), celebrating staff/student success, and social activities (networking, engagement, and fun!)
Identifies staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, personal time off/scheduling, and facilitates training needs for current/future employees, interns, volunteers, and students. Ensures dress code and personal appearance standards for all in each café.
Provides ongoing training and development to all individuals working in the café on customer service and menu/food product knowledge. Continually develops team members, establishing specific performance objectives, and measuring team member performance, taking time to celebrate success and make the café a fun, engaging, and social experience. When needed engaging the CHSC Career Development Specialists.
Key to this position is supporting campus wide nutrition programs, such as actively participating and collaborating with the Director of Wellness Services in the development of a Wellness Cafe menu and program for students and community members, meals to go, and a focus on career related education and nutrition.
Create, budget and develop seasonal menus, weekly specials, and creative fare.
Provide guidance and expertise to operating a clean, safe, organized and profitable operation.
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and presentable kitchen, prep area, storage and cooler.
The capability to manage, direct and train a team of employees. Including food preparation, production and service.
Above all, have a positive attitude and love to cook and be in the kitchen!
Control food & labor costs
Order stock & meet with vendors; review invoices for accuracy and cost savings

Physical Demands:
The associate is required to be on his/her feet for extended periods. The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
The associate must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
Required Education and Experience:
· Excellent written and verbal communication
· Working knowledge of computer applications
· Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and drive to meet and exceed objectives
· Associates degree in Culinary Arts and/or Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition is a plus
· Bi-lingual (a plus)
