Mission and Job Summary
This job contributes to CuliNEX success by ensuring the successful execution of consulting services contracts to meet project deliverables and client expectations. The Culinologist III must exhibit CuliNex Core Competencies and support to its Core Values.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide informal and formal mentorship through ongoing training, guidance, and hands-on benchwork with the development team.
- Provide operational and technical guidance to assure effective product development, planning, resourcing, and prioritization to meet project objectives.
- Ability to direct, lead, and teach; product development, ideation and concepting, culinary applications, food science, QA/QC, and commercialization.
- Ability to research and troubleshoot challenging formulations and processes.
- Assist Product Development Manager in kitchen management and organization.
- Lead task based initiatives for the development team.
- Encourage efficiency, effectiveness, and employee engagement.
Special Tasks
Travel for education, trade shows & conferences for industry networking & marketing as required and approved.
Education and Experience
- 6-10 years working in a product development lab, commercial or industrial kitchen, or food processing plant.
- Culinary + Food Science, Culinology, or Food Science program graduate.
- Master’s degree in Food Science preferred.
- Management experience preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient on computer programs including Excel, Word & Outlook; knowledge of SharePoint and Teams are a plus.
- Passionate about food and the science behind it.
- Eager to work in a team environment and collaborate.
- An analytical and creative thinker; enjoys participating in the product development process.
- Curious problem solver, able to brainstorm solutions to challenging problems.
- Committed to continuous learning and improvement.
- Able to change gears quickly and handle ambiguity with grace.
- Interested in giving back to our industry through networking, utilizing social media, public speaking, attending trade shows and conferences, and creative and technical writing.
- Able to travel occasionally for presentations, conferences, and trade shows.
Physical Work Abilities and Requirements
This position requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., walk up and down stairs, and climb ladders.
