    Job Description

    OPPORTUNITY:
    The Curriculum Specialist in Secondary English (specializing in all levels of middle school and high school English) will join a collaborative academic team and focus on supporting teachers in the implementation of the IOTA English program at multiple schools.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Consistently model and provide teachers with research-based instructional strategies that support the delivery of quality instruction to all students
    • Strategically plan and manage Intellectual Preparation collaboration/sessions to build teacher and administrator depth and proficiency in content
    • Promote instruction that meets the demand of the TN Academic Standards for English by providing focused observations, co-planning, and professional development
    • Utilize the coaching model to provide opportunities for teacher reflection on classroom observations
    • Train teachers to manage, interpret and use assessment data and facilitate the analysis of data and student work to guide instructional decisions
    • Work collaboratively with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, coaching team, school site administration and department chairs/teacher leaders to plan and facilitate professional development
    • Provide support and assistance to all school English teachers in the implementation of the IOTA English Program, English intervention courses, and Benchmark Assessments
    • Analyze and develop recommended next steps from interim assessment and observation data to report to school and district-level stakeholders
    • Develop and/or refine curriculum unit plans and district interim assessments based on external resources
    • Set expectations for which parts of the curriculum must be covered within the school year
    • Support teachers teaching statewide dual credit pre-calculus other pre-college courses
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • At least 4 years of teaching experience in English at the middle or high school level, with valid credential (valid and active teaching license in English; English 6-12)
    • Master in Education (preferred)
    • Solid knowledge of Tennessee English Standards, including upper-level and AP courses
    • Experience with myPerspectives (SAVVAS) preferred
    • Ability to travel to other school sites/locations
    • Experience developing and facilitating professional development
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience creating TN State Standards-aligned assessments
    • Experience implementing adopted curriculum(s)
    • Experience in collaborative planning and delivery of differentiated staff development to classroom teachers
    • Experience with student management systems to analyze student data
    • Experience monitoring student data to track performance and determine appropriate next steps

    Additional Information

    Salary for this position is $70,000 - $80,000, depending on experience.
