    Custodial Maintenance Technician

    Reports to: Educare Director

    Salary (Grade): $23.87/hr

    Status: Reg., Full-Time (Non-exempt)

    Location:Educare Winnebago, Winnebago, Nebraska

    Educare of Winnebago is a collaborative partnership between the Winnebago Tribal Council, Winnebago Head Start, Tribal Childcare and the Winnebago Public Schools. The mission of Educare is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and their families.

    Job Purpose & Position Overview

    The Building Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for routine and preventative maintenance/repair procedures and custodial duties.

    Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.

    Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers.)

    Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.

    Repairs or replaces broken parts.

    Responsible for monitoring the HVAC equipment, basic lighting equipment, and plumbing equipment and understand a building integrated HVAC control system.

    Experience with domestic hot water recirculation systems.

    Cleans and inspects boiler; treats water with proper chemicals.

    Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds.

    Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.

    May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.

    Monitor electrical equipment and make minor repairs as needed

    Monitor electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security.

    Responds to emergency maintenance requests as needed, may include afterhours, weekends and holidays.

    Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.

    Performs outside grounds keeping duties such as snow removal, mowing and trimming as needed.

    Obtains estimates for supplies and parts; order as needed.

    Performs routine custodial work such as vacuuming, shampooing and spot cleaning carpets and rugs; removing trash in accordance with established procedures; cleaning all surfaces including windows as needed, disinfecting all surfaces as needed and stocking paper and supplies in restrooms.

    Disposes of recyclables properly off site.

    Pick up & deliver materials, supplies or equipment for the facility.

    Will be the point of contact for building repairs, maintenance and upkeep.

    Required Qualifications/Skills:

    High School Diploma or GED required.

    Valid Driver’s License required, must be able to meet driver’s eligibility guidelines for insurance.

    Be in good physical health, free from communicable diseases, and will be required to take a physical examination and tuberculin test annually.

    Must be able to pass a criminal history check, central registry, and Nebraska State Patrol criminal history check.

    Be in good mental health and have a pleasant personality and abundance of patience that coincides with working with children birth to five.

    Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days; must maintain certification throughout employment.

    Education Preference:

    High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.

    Training Requirements:

    Must attend all program meetings and/or training courses as required or directed by Co-Directors.

    Must indicate a willingness to enter into an educational plan.

    Physical Requirements:

    Normal to heavy work which includes the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

    Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate various custodial equipment.

    Manual dexterity with cooperatively free range of motion of all extremities including neck, fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, arms, shoulders, waist, legs, hips, knee joints, ankles, and feet is required.

    While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

    Above average social interaction skills

    Reasoning/Analysis

    Works with minimal to no supervision

    Language Requirements:

    Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

    Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.

    Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
