Mission : Support high-quality programs by daily cleaning and maintenance of all areas of the building, unbundling and assembling deliveries, assisting at special events, and errands. Reports to Office Administrator.
Typical tasks include:
Sweep, mop, and disinfect classrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and spaces daily.
Daily walk through to guarantee building ready for students, fix issues.
Perform maintenance and minor repairs (painting, replacing broken switches, lights, fixing door handles, leaks, clogged drains, etc.).
Sweep sidewalk daily, check playground and garden for debris.
Perform yearly or seasonal tasks such as waxing floors, ceiling and classrooms painting, power tools, snowblowers, and other equipment as may be used in cleaning.
Assist teachers and Program Director opening doors for dismissal and/or Fire Drills.
Sweep staircases, dust baseboards, window sills, computer screens.
Dismantle boxes, set up equipment, and dispose garbage.
Clean mops.
Report problems of a maintenance or safety as soon as observed.
Safety procedures during school closing.
Special Events:
Cleaning and set up for open houses, fund-raisers and other special events.
Errands:
Obtain special supplies and other pick up and delivery assignments.
Cleanup from accidents and other unexpected events in the school.
Other Requirements:
Skilled and detailed with basic repair activities.
Be punctual and time aware with work schedule.
Follow indications, established procedures, and fill out forms correctly.
Service attitude: be willing to help anyone and work as a team.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift and carry a minimum of 70 pounds.
Able to perform these functions over a sustained period of time: walking, twisting, turning, climbing, shoveling, stooping, bending, lifting, sweeping, and standing.
Normal tolerance of and not be allergic to common maintenance chemicals.
Work outdoors in any variety of weather.
Work in an environment filled with children’s voices.
Labor Description:
Part-Time Staff - 5.5 hours per day.
Schedule from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with 30 minutes break.
Non Exempt.
Qualifications:
Able to operate, or learn to operate floor buffers, power tools, snowblowers, and other equipment as may be used in the cleaning and operation of the school.
Complete light maintenance tasks as assigned. Some examples of these tasks include: changing light bulbs, tightening fittings on plumbing, replacing screws, nails, hanging pictures, painting, etc.
Second language preferred - Spanish.
