    ECHO is looking for a reliable, motivated Custodian to grow with the Facilities/Animal Care team! Here's what you need to know:

    • 4 day a week schedule (Sunday - Wednesday, 5am - 3pm). Three day weekends! Overtime available!
    • 5am - 10am is dedicated to building cleaning, including bathrooms, floors, windows and exhibits. Seasonal work includes assisting with snow removal.
    • 10am - 3pm includes trash removal, scheduled cleaning sweeps and assisting with mowing, weeding, and snow removal.
    • Successful candidate has the opportunity to expand their knowledge by observing and assisting with exhibit and building maintenance, exhibit installations, and assisting Animal Care Staff in project work.
    • Opportunity to learn to use maintenance equipment and tools, snowblower, truck-mounted snow plow, and more!
    • Preferred applicants will have at least 6 months experience with custodial work, valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and be motivated to work independently to complete their daily work on time.

    Responsibilities:

    • Custodial work: dusting, mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, window cleaning, trash removal, periodic deep cleaning, carpet extraction, power washing, etc. in a timely manner.

    • Assist with maintaining adequate supply of cleaning/repair supplies.

    • Demonstrable willingness and interest in assisting in and learning installation, maintenance and repair of exhibits.

    • Seasonal landscape work including weed removal, mowing, raking, sweeping of exterior areas.

    • Assist in snow and ice removal

    • Exterior trash removal including parking lot, walkways, planted areas and lawns, etc.

    • Demonstrable willingness and interest in assisting in and learning interior and exterior building and exhibit maintenance including but not limited to painting, flooring repair, light carpentry, light electrical, light plumbing, signage install and repair, etc.

    • Provide quality customer service while working in a high volume guest environment.

    • Other duties and projects assigned as needed.

    Essential Skills:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Experience in custodial work
    • Experience working in public setting and interacting with the public while performing job duties
    • Valid driver's license
    • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast paced environment, managing multiple priorities
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and spend the majority of the shift moving, including bending, stooping, standing, walking, and using hands to operate cleaning equipment and tools
    • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues
    • Willingness to observe and learn new skills
    • Ability to spot issues and respond accordingly
