Customer Experience Director – Interior Design & A&D
Location: Irvington, NJ, In-Person, Full time
Salary: $125K–$175K (Based on Experience)
Position Overview
Are you passionate about interior design and experienced in the Architectural & Design (A&D) community? We are seeking a hands-on, go-getter Customer Service Operations Manager with expertise in design, construction materials, or related trades (e.g., flooring, tile & marble, kitchen cabinets, lighting) to lead our customer service and support operations. This role involves managing key client relationships with dealers, architects, and designers, driving operational excellence, and working cross-functionally with sales, R&D, and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead & Train: Manage and mentor a high-performing customer service team and related support staff.
- Client Relations: Build strong, lasting relationships with dealers, architects, and designers through regular in-person visits and proactive support.
- Operations & Strategy: Optimize workflows, manage ticketing/project management systems, and drive process improvements to enhance customer service performance.
- Data & Reporting: Utilize tools like Excel to analyze performance metrics and generate actionable reports.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with sales, R&D, and production managers to ensure cohesive strategies and excellent customer experiences.
Must-Haves
- Passion for A&D: Strong background and genuine interest in working within the A&D community.
- Industry Experience: Proven experience in customer service operations within construction, design, or related industries.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams independently.
- Client Relationship Skills: Expertise in developing and nurturing client relationships, with a focus on building rapport with dealers and design professionals.
- Analytical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills and the ability to transform complex data into clear, actionable insights.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in customer service operations or related roles, ideally in industries such as custom cabinetry, flooring, tile & marble, kitchen cabinets, or lighting.
- Experience working directly with the A&D community.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage operational processes, document performance, and optimize workflows.
- Detail-oriented with strong task management and organizational skills.
