Job Description

Paralegals at our civil rights law firm provide assistance to the firm’s 7 attorneys, both administratively and through unique case-related tasks. Tasks range from answering phones, scanning and organizing materials or court filings, obtaining records or conducting internet research, interviewing potential witnesses and assistance in depositions, trial preparation and at trial.

Duties and responsibilities

• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Gather and analyze research data
• Prepare correspondence, reports, and other complex documents, including Table of Authorities and Table of Contents for briefs
• Direct preparation, service and filing of legal documents under instruction of attorneys, and use court electronic filing systems
• Perform internet fact searching and basic research
• Support areas of the firm that requires additional assistance
• Support for other attorneys and staff
• Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree -- please do NOT apply if you have a law degree, this is administrative/support work only
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office; especially Outlook, Word & Excel and AdobePro
• A positive, “team player” attitude and attention to detail

Working conditions

• 9:30am-5:30pm
• There is occasional overtime, as needed (sometimes without notice), including evenings and weekends, compensated
• Moral 2 year commitment

• A salary of $55,000 a year
