Cybersecurity Engineer
Detroit, MI | Contract | $50-$60/hr
Konik is partnering with a manufacturer that is looking to add an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to their team on a contract basis. This would be an initial 6 month contract period with a strong possibility of being extended.
Cybersecurity Engineer Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chief Cybersecurity Engineer with the creation, communication, and rollout of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy and roadmap for the enterprise, aligning with Polaris' broader objectives.
- Provide advice and direction to key stakeholders, including product and system teams, on identifying security issues, recommended mitigations, and best practices for cybersecurity measures.
- Execute threat and risk assessments (TARA) across various levels, such as vehicle, feature, and component, and implement targeted cybersecurity controls to manage detected risks effectively.
- Formulate, review, and refine cybersecurity requirements, perform architectural design reviews of internal and external security solutions, and develop vehicle cybersecurity architectures, including secure boot, secure reprogramming, and intrusion detection systems.
- Oversee operations for the key management system (KMS) and Polaris’ internal PKI usage; work with suppliers and external vendors to ensure cohesive PKI functionality across systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, like Ride Command, to reinforce security across all connected products, applications, and cloud environments, focusing on vulnerability management and establishing a secure ecosystem.
- Foster a cybersecurity-conscious culture through regular training, uphold ISO/SAE 21434 and UNR 155 standards, strengthen supply chain security with HBOM and SBOM measures, and keep current with industry best practices and new technologies.
Cybersecurity Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelors in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, or related; advanced degree is beneficial.
- 3+ years of experience in automotive cybersecurity, embedded system security, IoT security, cyber-physical system security, or a combination of these.
- Experience with securing wireless communication protocols such as cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, satellite communications, RF, etc.
- Broad understanding of cybersecurity architecture, controls, and programming.
- Experience conducting Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA).
- Experience with Itemis Secure is highly preferred.
