    Daystar Academy, an IB continuum school in the city of Chicago, serves students in primary, middle school and high school. We are looking for a highly qualified, justice-minded High School Girls Basketball Coach for the 2024-2025 school year. This will be a stipend position.

    Title: Girls Basketball Coach (stipend position)

    Reports to: Director of Athletics

    Hours: The schedule will vary based on practice sessions, games, and tournaments. Flexibility is required to accommodate evening and weekend events.

    Job Summary:

    Daystar Academy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Girls Basketball Coach to join our Falcons Athletic program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in volleyball, with experience in coaching high school-level athletes. The ideal candidate will be able to cultivate physical, emotional and spiritual growth for each athlete and live out our values of empowering our students to be faith-based, culturally-engaged and globally minded.

    All Staff Responsibilities:

    Provide a safe school environment, indoors and out, per directives regarding building operations (keys, fobs, alarm codes),

    Fulfill essential job functions based on one’s specific job description; and during times of school drills or emergencies, assist others as able.

    Be on time, appropriately dressed and ready for work at assigned days/times.

    Adhere to all of the requirements outlined in the Staff Handbook.

    Build a sense of trust in the school by fostering a respectful, cordial, and professional relationship with staff and students.

    Respect all school procedures and organizational structure.

    Essential Job Functions Relative to Girls Basketball Coach:

    Plan and conduct regular practice sessions to develop players’ skills and teamwork.

    Organize and coordinate team participation in league games, tournaments, and other competitions.

    Provide constructive feedback and support to players to help them improve their performance.

    Foster a positive team culture that promotes sportsmanship and respect.

    Collaborate with school administration, parents, and other coaches to ensure the success of the volleyball program.

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience playing basketball at a competitive level.

    • Coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.

    • Knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
