DOE natural phenomena hazard (NPH) Structural Analyst
Education: An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience. OR A MS degree and 12 years' experience. OR A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience.
Education (Specific for the Position): An advanced Civil Engineering degree and relevant experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience. OR A MS degree and 12 years' experience. OR A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience.
Experience/Skills: Considered an internal expert around expertise. This contributes to advancing knowledge in the field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations. Can solve complex problems in the field.
Experience/Skills (Specific for the Position): Candidate must demonstrate 8 years recent experience in design and analysis of NRC or DOE regulated nuclear facilities. Experience with finite element analysis is required. Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS or ABAQUS or similar computer codes. Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards; specifically, IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, & N690), ACI (318 & 349) and ASCE (4, 7 & 43).
Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs to document as-installed conditions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (SPECIFIC FOR THE POSITION)
Current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering
Experience in analysis of structural response to explosion (blast/detonation and deflagration)
Experience with DOE natural phenomena hazard (NPH), Standard 1020, criteria Previous SRS experience
