We have an excellent career opportunity for a full time General Maintenance Worker, located in NW Washington, DC. Veterans are encouraged to apply. The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems. Building systems include HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, masonry, flooring, and hardware.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Ability to independently perform and document a variety of minor repairs on building equipment and systems including;

    o Minor repairs to Finishes

    Drywall touch-up painting and patching – walls, trim, and ceilings

    Caulking and sealing

    Replacing floor tiles and carpet squares

    Replacing ceiling tiles and wall panels

    Hanging and moving pictures and white boards, fixing holes

    Minor concrete repairs, filling cracks and other minor damage

    Minor repairs to stairs and railings

    Replace broken windowpanes

    Hanging doors, installing new handles, locks, and push bars o Electrical and lighting duties

    Install replacement electrical receptacles, wires, and switches

    Install replacement electrical fixtures, motors, and fans

    Minor repairs and changing bulbs/tubes on light fixtures o HVAC, Plumbing, and other Mechanical Systems

    Installing replacement plumbing fixtures like sinks, faucets, traps, toilets,

    Verify operational status of plumbing equipment such as water heaters and performing maintenance tasks

    Install replacement parts on plumbing assets

    Minor repair to plumbing in bathrooms and showers

    Install replacement sections of pipe and fittings

    Use small snake to clear minor drains, like those in sinks, toilets, and bathroom floor drains.

    General maintenance on HVAC equipment, such as changing filters and belts

    Cleaning system components, such as drain pans and outdoor coils

    Replacing minor parts like motors and fans

    Assist Electricians, HVAC technicians, and Plumbers with major repairs and installations o Follow instructions when working under the supervision of Tradespeople o Work safely and perform project housekeeping duties

    Perform General Duties o Moving furniture, tools, materials, and other heavy items o Receiving and documenting deliveries of project materials and parts o Organizing contractor workspaces and mechanical rooms and keeping work areas clean o Putting tools and materials away after projects o Escorting vendors and other contractors as required

    Maintain standards of conduct, background check, drug-free workplace,

    Ability to accurately document and report on services performed

    Dedicated to safety in the workplace

    Qualification Requirements

    Mid-level tradesperson with (3) three years of related building maintenance experience

    Experience focused on drywall and painting is preferred

    Must be able to acquire a CFC Universal

    Must be able to acquire and maintain a Federal Public Trust Clearance for badge(OASAM)

    Pass background and pre-employment drug screen which includes marijuana as we are a federal contractor.

    Physical Requirements:

    Must be able to perform manual labor that requires standing or walking/moving up to 85% of the time, as well as working on ladders over twelve (12) feet, crouching, bending, and accessing constricted spaces.

    Reach and pull to work on equipment; and to use hands, arms, and legs in using tools and materials.

    Ability to lift, carry and move objects more than forty (40) pounds.

    Ability to smell unusual odors relating to chemicals and equipment operation systems.
