    DOT Compliance Specialist

    Tacoma, WA

    Our client, a leading utilities contractor servicing the Pacific Northwest, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented DOT Compliance Specialist to oversee both transportation compliance and jobsite safety for our field operations. This role is critical in ensuring adherence to DOT regulations as well as supporting a culture of safety across all project sites. The ideal candidate has experience managing fleet compliance and an understanding of construction site safety protocols, though this firm is willing to train on safety matters for construction jobsites.

    DOT Specialist Responsibilities:

    DOT Compliance

    • Maintain compliance with all DOT and FMCSA regulations
    • Manage driver qualification files, HOS logs, and drug/alcohol testing
    • Track vehicle inspections, permits, and preventative maintenance
    • Conduct internal audits and assist with DOT inspections
    • Ensure accurate records of incidents, violations, and corrective actions
    • Train drivers and staff on DOT regulations and fleet safety protocols

    Construction Site Safety

    • Support and enforce jobsite safety programs and procedures in coordination with the Safety Director
    • Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify and address hazards
    • Participate in incident investigations and prepare reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions
    • Monitor use of PPE and safe work practices by field crews and subcontractors
    • Assist in onboarding and training field personnel on safety protocols and best practices
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and local safety requirements

    DOT Specialist Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience in DOT compliance, construction safety, or fleet safety management
    • Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations
    • Experience in a construction environment preferred (not required)
    • Proficient in safety documentation and compliance tracking systems
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • OSHA 30 and/or other safety certifications preferred
    • CDL a plus, but not required

    Compensation: $110K - $130K plus bonus potential of up to $10K
