    The Athletic Success Coach is a full-time professional position within the Student Success and Academic Training Centers. This position has a shared reporting structure between the Assistant Vice President for Student Success and the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Administration.

    The Athletic Success Coach serves as the key contact for student-athletes seeking academic assistance and helps them navigate the academic community. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of academic support for student athletes including (but not limited to) monitoring of academic progress, academic advisement and planning, tutoring support services, and progress towards graduation. This position requires consistent and open communication with athletes, coaches, faculty and staff. This position also requires knowledge of best practices in collegiate athletic advisement and a thorough understanding of DII NCAA conference guidelines and regulations.

    Examples of Duties and Responsibilities: (illustrative only)

    • The Athletic Success Coach would oversee the Academic Training Center (ATC), which provides a space for student-athletes to complete study hall hours and an office to receive one on one consultation.
    • Collect and provide Weekly Study Hall Reports for Coaches.
    • Provides individual and group academic advisement for student-athletes. This includes assisting in creating an individualized educational plan based on each students’ strengths and weaknesses. Ensure course schedules are balanced and meet academic interests while keeping student-athletes progressing for on-time graduation.
    • Meet with all student-athletes at least once a semester for early registration purposes and for review of degree progress. Schedule regular appointments and assist with developing daily, weekly, monthly, and semester long objectives.
    • Monitor academic progress of student-athletes; coordinate academic support services when necessary.
    • Collaborate with Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance in the monitoring of NCAA Academic Progress Rate, to include tracking and projections, and the development and implementation of improvement plans.
    • Educate student-athletes on university and program requirements; as well as institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Promote positive working relationships with faculty and staff throughout campus. This includes regular contact through EAB progress reports, phone calls, and e-mails.
    • Coordinate services to proactively address the academic needs of student-athletes and make necessary recommendations to campus resources including: Tutoring Services, Personal Counseling, and The Park.
    • Regularly communicate the progress, outcomes and direction of work and make recommendations concerning improvement of programs and services.
    • Support D’Youville Strategic Initiatives through participation in a variety of department activities and institutional committee work.

    Required Job Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Master’s degree or bachelor’s with 3+ years athletic success coach experience
    • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to the delivery of academic services for student-athlete populations.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with students who may be academically “at risk.”
    • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Must be able to work weekends and evenings (when necessary).

    Preferred Job Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Demonstrated experience working with academic support programs for student athletes at the Divisional level.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Academic Progress Rate and academic eligibility requirements.
    • Experience working with Ellucian/Colleague, EAB, and ARMS software
    • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA DII Conference rules and regulations governing, but not limited to: academics, satisfactory progress, and eligibility.

    Skills:

    • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
    • Highly organized and able to handle a large caseload of student-athletes.
    • Able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, coaches, faculty and staff.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Knowledge of FERPA and ethical principles in working with students.

    Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
