    JOB TITLE: Usher

    DEPARTMENT: Marketing and Patron Experience

    REPORTS TO: Event Manager, Bailey Bryant

    TYPE: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

    COMPENSATION: $12 per hour

    SCHEDULE/AVAILABILITY: Must have weekend availability. Shifts during performance weeks are typically Tuesday-Friday evenings 5:30pm-10:00pm and weekends 11:30am-10:00pm (two shifts).

    LOCATION: The Music Hall at Fair Park, Dallas, TX

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Ushers serve as the first point of contact for nearly all patrons attending ticketed events at the Music Hall. A team of dozens of ushers for each event join with over a hundred other front-of-house employees and other personnel to ensure that patrons have a world-class experience through the entirety of their visit. Ushers scan tickets, distribute programs, offer direction, escort patrons to specific seating areas, and provide direction and assistance to patrons requiring special assistance.

    The Front of House team ensures extraordinary customer service for every Music Hall patron and also monitor compliance with health and safety matters/protocols. Familiarity with Fair Park and its surrounding neighborhoods is strongly preferred.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Greeting patrons in a friendly manner and offering assistance as needed

    • Guiding patrons to seats and exits safely

    • Maintaining order and adherence to safety rules

    • Distributing programs and materials to guests

    • Providing directions to private suites, restrooms, restaurant, and common areas (line management and directions)

    • Reminding patrons of security policies/procedures and contacting safety and security personnel to enforce procedures when required

    • Enforcing auditorium/decorum rules and policies

    • Assisting guests with special needs including wheelchair or mobility assistance

    • Performing pre-show set-up and post-show closing duties

    • Escalating special requests to House Manager or Event Manager needed

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Available to work at least three shifts per month

    • Available to work weekends, evenings and some holidays

    • Available to attend a paid two-hour orientation on July 24, 2021

    • Comfort working in a stationary and single position for several hours at a time

    • Ability to traverse the Music Hall grounds and internal public spaces (lobbies, restaurant, etc.) multiple times in a single shift

    • Operate and ascend/descend a ladder

    • Move and position items up to 20 pounds

    • Hold a valid driver's license and have regular access to a motor vehicle or have access to other reliable means of transportation to and from the Music Hall

    • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in scheduling and directed tasks

    • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions

    • Ability to work well in a group and be proactive about the needs of guests

    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and friendly demeanor

    • Familiarity with and regular access to basic computer hardware and software including ability to use a laptop and smartphone/tablet, check email, time-keeping software, etc.

    • Fully Vaccinated for COVID-19; DSM will consider accommodations for reasons based upon disability or religious beliefs

    PREFERRED SKILLS:

    • Fluency in Spanish

    • High school diploma or GED
