    The Dangerous Goods Shipping Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing the shipping of hazardous materials as well as ensuring compliance with international and domestic regulations. They handle hazardous materials safely, prepare and review shipping documentation, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of shipping regulations. This role involves collaborating with various departments, performing audits and inspections, and developing strategies to optimize shipping processes. The specialist must have extensive experience in international shipping, hazardous material handling, and certifications such as DOT 49 CFR and IATA training.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and manage the shipping of dangerous goods, ensuring compliance with international and domestic regulations.
    • Handle hazardous materials safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Prepare and review shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in hazardous materials shipping regulations and implement necessary updates to company procedures.
    • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless and compliant shipping operations.
    • Perform audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance.
    • Develop and implement strategies to optimize shipping processes.
    • Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that may arise.
    • Ensure proper labeling and packaging of hazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and amend SOPs for shipping processes.

    Key Qualifications:

    • Associates degree or equivalent education and experience.
    • 5+ year experience shipping, handling, packing, and preparing documentation for international and domestic DG shipments.
    • Ability to create and understand critical shipping documents including "Dangerous Goods Declaration" (DGD), Safety Data Sheet (SDS), commercial invoice (CI), a Shipper's Letter of Instruction (SLI), and depending on the mode of transport, an Air Waybill (AWB) or Bill of Lading (BOL).
    • In-depth knowledge of shipping hazardous materials and relevant regulations.
    • Currently certified / previously certified through IATA for hazmat shipping.
    • Currently certified / previously certified through DOT 49 CFR hazmat shipping.
    • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong working knowledge of software programs, such as Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and OneDrive along with various ERP systems.
    • Interpersonal skills and abilities to ensure successful, effective and positive interactions.
    • Ability to address and resolve difficult logistic situations while balancing the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Capable of multitasking and working with changing priorities and deadlines.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift 40 pounds from floor to table height
    • Ability to use a hand truck, drum lifter, and pallet jack to transport heavy objects
    • Ability to sit and/or stand in one place for extended periods
    • Ability to use a keyboard and mouse for computer data entry
    • Ability to spend up to 100% of work time standing or moving. Physical activities include using hand tools, bending, stooping, pushing, lifting, climbing stairs, carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis.
    • Standing, walking, bending, stooping, and crouching for extended periods throughout the shift
    • Ability to precisely handle small bottles, packages, labels, and other materials.
