    Job Summary:

    The role of the Enterprise Data Architect is to expand the company’s use of data as a strategic enabler of corporate goals and objectives. The Enterprise Data Architect will achieve this by strategically designing, developing, and implementing data models for enterprise-level applications and systems. These models shall be architected at the following layers: conceptual, logical, business area, and application. This individual will act as the primary advocate of data modeling methodologies and data processing best practices.

    Primary Functions and/or Responsibilities:

    • Develops and delivers long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards in conjunction with data users, department managers, business units, and other key stakeholders.
    • Creates short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall data management roadmap in alignment to the Company's data governance program.
    • Establishes processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of corporate metadata; takes steps to assure metadata accuracy and validity.
    • Establishes methods and procedures for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement.
    • Creates strategies and plans for data security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving. Conducts data capacity planning, lifecycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks.
    • Ensures data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance.
    • Determines governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing data across the organization.
    • Selects and implements the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support data technology goals.
    • Oversees the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring data quality.
    • Collaborates with Data Governance Manager, project managers, and business unit leaders for all projects involving enterprise data.
    • Addresses data-related problems in regards to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platform integration. Identifies and develops opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement.
    • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and development plans for enterprise architecture and infrastructure operations.
    • Documents the data architecture and environment in order to maintain a current and accurate view of the larger data picture at the bank.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Four-year college degree in a related field preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering or relevant field preferred
    • At least 8 years of experience as technology, systems, data, or information architect
    • At least 6 years of robust knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, best practices, and industry standards
    • Experience in designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure enterprise solutions aligned with TOGAF standards
    • Experience deploying and leveraging an EA Architecture Modeling Language (ArchiMate)
    • Direct experience in implementing enterprise data management processes, procedures, and decision support
    • Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, and reporting structures
    • Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques

    Specific Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, coupled with the ability to work under pressure
    • Adept at speaking in detail with the technical crowd and effective at communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
    • Strong understanding of relational data structure, theories, principles, and practices
    • Strong familiarity with metadata management and associated processes
    • Hands-on knowledge of enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools
    • Demonstrated expertise with repository creation, and data and information system lifecycle methodologies
    • Excellent customer/user interaction skills to determine requirements
    • In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems
    • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards
    • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
