Our client, a large public sector organization, is seeking a Data Center Technician for an onsite contract position in downtown Brooklyn. This is a 2 year contract (35 hours per week). You can onboard as our W2 employee or independent contractor.

Overview:

The Data Center Technician will support the Data Center Operations team at the Department of Education (DOE)/DIIT by deploying and maintaining network infrastructure. This includes racking, stacking, cabling, decommissioning, and using data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.

Project Goals:

Deploy data center network infrastructure (Cisco ACI, Nexus switches, ASR routers, FirePower firewalls, VMware NSX, F5 Load Balancers).

Rack and cable all network equipment based on design documents.

Configure and test all infrastructure components.

Migrate legacy network systems to new platforms.

Decommission outdated and legacy equipment.

Responsibilities:

Install and cable data center equipment.

Maintain and update documentation and DCIM tools.

Troubleshoot connectivity issues using diagnostic tools.

Uninstall and remove legacy equipment.

Maintain a clean, safe, and secure data center environment.

Must Have:

4+ years of hands-on experience working in a data center environment.

Experience supporting network infrastructure and resolving LAN issues.

Skilled in using documentation tools such as MS Excel, Visio, and Word.

Ability to perform physical tasks required for installing and removing equipment.

Nice to Have:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Previous experience working in the education or public sector.

Familiarity with DIIT standards and hardware/networking protocols.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
