  • Responsibilities

    The Caveon data forensics team analyzes millions of test sessions a year for a variety of clients, including medical programs, tech companies, state departments of education, and others. Processing a variety of data using an automated, proprietary system provides a unique set of challenges, as does providing customized analysis solutions for every client.     Remote work with some travel for training, team collaboration, and attending conferences. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

    Knowledge / Skills / Ability:

    • Strong statistical data analysis skills (including linear algebra, calculus, probabilities, and data visualization).
    • Strong background and experience in statistical inference.
    • Python programming skills required.
    • Effective at communicating technical details remotely, including communicating statistical methods and findings to a variety of remote and in-person audiences.
    • Training in research design, conducting research projects, and technical writing.
    • Curious and highly motivated to identify, investigate, and understand data anomalies.
    • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills required.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and documentation.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and independently.

    Responsibilities:

    • Write and review summary reports explaining and interpreting data forensics results and prioritizing results in terms of risk to test security.
    • Conduct thorough research on current and/or new statistical methods to detect potential test fraud.
    • Meticulously document statistical methods and procedures and review existing documentation for accuracy and understandability.
    • Collaborate with team members to develop research questions, design analyses, and brainstorm new or expanded statistical methodology.
    • Communicate data forensics methods and results to a variety of remote and in-person audiences.
    • Write, launch, and monitor scripts for automated conversion of data formats, processing of data, and creation and formatting of Excel outputs based on the results.
    • Collaborate remotely with clients and team members to understand data including: assessing unfamiliar data, developing questions about variables and data entries, thinking critically about required versus optional variables and develop solutions for completing data analysis, developing solutions to address unique problems posed by novel data structures, formats, and types.
    • Meticulously verify data correctness and formatting.
    • Create detailed and thorough documentation (e.g., of statistical methods, or for parsing and processing data).
    • Receive notifications of software errors, assess the errors, and contribute to resolving errors.
    • Contribute to improvements in the automation of tasks and analyses.
    • Confidentiality of client identities and specifics of the data forensics system and statistical results is critical.

    Education and Experience:

    • Masters in Statistics or other quantitative field required.
    • 2+ years Python experience required.
