    About the Role:

    Aquila is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations.The Data Scientist will work in support of technical staff from multiple groups to support a range of activities, including developing simulation environments, assets and interfaces used in the development of AI, computer vision, machine learning and autonomy projects.

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
    • Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.

    What You'll Do:

     

    Designs, develops, and implements methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze diverse data sets including structured and unstructured. Develops software programs, algorithms, dashboards, information tools, and queries to clean, model, integrate and evaluate datasets. Keeps abreast of new analytic methodologies and technologies. Collaborates with functional business units to drive business solutions and direction.

    Responsibilities:

    • Drafting user stories to develop system capabilities 
    • Conducting user interviews to gather requirements
    • Interfacing with software development teams in an agile environment
    • Prototyping and/or storyboarding UI/UX features
    • Python programing
    • Applying methods and algorithms to extract insight from structure and unstructured data
    • AI and ML techniques such as Natural Language Programming (NLP)
      Working with DevOps

    Working Knowledge of the Following:

    •  Experience contributing to product codebases, either front-end or otherwise
    • Strong familiarity with common data web-friendly data formats, e.g. JSON and XML
    • Familiarity with the limitations and challenges associated with user communities leveraging various browsers and platforms (e.g. Chrome vs. Firefox, iOS vs. Android)
    • Experience leading design reviews of proposed features, either with or without the customer
    • Ability to rapidly learn and apply emerging data science algorithms and implementations
    • Experience with tools implementing data privacy standards
    • Work well within a fast moving, small team environment

     

    Must Have
    • 5 years Applying methods and algorithms to extract insight from structure and unstructured data
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 2 years Agile Methodologies
    • 4 years Conducting user interviews to gather requirements
    • Currently holds a Secret Clearance (OR a higher clearance)
    • 1 years DevOps processes, practices, and tools.3 years Drafting user stories to develop system capabilities
    • 3 years Prototyping and/or storyboarding UI/UX features
    Nice to Have:
    • Experience with tools implementing data privacy standards
    • JSON and XML data formats
    • Leading design reviews
    • Contributing to product codebases (front-end or otherwise)
    • Learning and applying emerging data science algorithms and implementations
    • Identifying user challenges with browsers and platforms (e.g. Chrome vs. Firefox, iOS vs. Android)

    Location: Lexington, MA

    Work Schedule: This position is HYBRID. The individual will be required to be onsite 2-3 days a week. Candidates are expected to be local at the time of the start of the assignment. Final scheduled TBD by hiring manager. 

    Travel: 1 - 3 trips per year, for 2 - 3 days, to sponsor sites.

    Clearance: Secret - Candidates should have an active clearance (secret/top secret, etc.) in order to be considered for this position due to the nature of the work being done. Do not submit candidates if they do not meet this requirement.
