We invest companies that lead in their market. When evaluating companies, we look at the product, market, and team, along with a deep analysis of the company's culture and ability to grow through communications expertise. Our unique value-add as an investor is in communications strategy and execution. Our work helps our companies find more customers, business partners, and new investors.

An important distinction between his experience and the way Day One's communication team interacts is the fact that our incentives are aligned. THE ROLE

• Own our communications initiatives with founders of Day One portfolio companies, including:
  1. Identifying business goals and tying communications strategy to the company's business goals
  2. Create the company's brand messaging
  3. Performing communications strategy and executing the media campaign
  4. Building a media pool around Day One and portfolio companies
• Lead strategic high-level media strategy and brainstorm viral, memorable moments for our companies.
• Work with journalists to get coverage.
• Enjoy working with multiple companies at the same time.
• Exhibit excellent writing and communications skills.

YOUR BACKGROUND

• GOAL ORIENTED: You're motivated by output and results.
• FOUNDER-FIRST: You can empathize with the founder experience when working with our portfolio. You can get into a cofounder mindset when working on Day One Ventures (we're a small team delivering outsized impact). This might mean you have experience founding yourself, working in tech, or organizing your own teams/work.
• ACTUAL RESULTS: You've landed your work in top publications and have shown you're a great communicator. You've worked on PRs and have professional relationships with reporters, journalists, bloggers, and influencers. You might have experience in Social Media Marketing. You have multiple examples of recent coverage you've gotten in top-tier media.
• PERFECT EXECUTION: You're careful and calculated to avoid mistakes and work independently.
• STRONG NETWORK AMONG MEDIA: Your contacts respect the stories you pitch and you can get coverage in major publications.
• FRIENDLY, INTERPERSONAL, PROFESSIONAL: You'll be interfacing directly with the top entrepreneurs and respected professionals in the world. We're excited to give you the reigns to manage these relationships.
• EXPERIENCE: You have worked in communications and PR, building stories for companies and pitching reporters.
• BASED IN THE US: We're a fully remote team with a presence in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. Our portfolio is spread across the Americas with a few companies in Europe and Asia. You'll be working remotely, but our team is flexible with timezones since we have work everywhere.
• CREDENTIALS: We value competitive experience and track record over credentials, but you likely have a university degree.
• POSITIVE REFERENCES: People you've worked with previously can vouch for your attitude and results.
• CREATIVE: You have the ability to create communications moments from scratch. You can come up with ideas for our companies to get covered.
