Job Summary Hours will be 2:00pm-6:30pm when students are in school. During breaks such as Christmas, Spring Break, summer, etc, hours will change to either 10:00am-3:00pm. This could easily turn into a full time position in the next month or two at a new site in WIlson County.

The Paraprofessional (PP) is part of a Day Treatment team consisting of a Licensed Professional Team Leader (LP), Day Treatment Program Director, and Qualified Professionals (QP’s). The PP is responsible for assisting the Qualified Professionals and their clients. The PP assists the QP’s in helping their clients in learning, developing, and utilizing coping strategies, social skills, and other skills to become successful and improve functioning in the school, home, and community settings. The PP assists the QP in providing daily group therapy sessions utilizing psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic interventions/activities with their clients.
Responsibilities and Duties
Participates in service planning meetings/weekly team meetings with the Day Treatment team.
Provides various skill building activities with clients (i.e., daily and community living skills, socialization skills, adaptation skills, development of leisure time interests/activities, symptom management skills, and wellness education).
Has direct contact with clients.
Reports any incidents or accidents to the QP or Director.
Helps maintain the self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each client. Works cooperatively with the QP/Director and relates favorably to clients and families.
Is familiar with the confidentiality of clients and clients’ charts.
Is familiar with the Client’s Bill of Rights and assists clients in exercising their rights.
Is responsible for reading and adhering to all policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned by QP or Director.
Notifies the QP or Director when there is a need for medical attention of any client or any other change in the client’s status.
Participates in any job-related Continued Education as required by the Program Director.
Performs other related duties as assigned in accordance with minimum standards.
Qualifications and Skills
-must meet the service definition for paraprofessional according to 10A NCAC 27G .0104.
-must be at least 18 years old.
-must be able to read, write, understand and follow directions.
-must have at least a High School diploma or GED.
-must have the skill, knowledge, and experience with child/adolescent mental health population.
-Paraprofessional-level providers who meet the requirements of the service definition may deliver services under the supervision of the QP.
-must complete training specific to the required components of the service definition including crisis response within the first 30 days of employment.
