    POSITION SUMMARY: As part of the Comprehensive School Support (CSS) strategy, select schools will be supported by teams of experienced educators who will provide intensive, hands-on coaching of principals, school leadership, teacher leaders, and classroom teachers to improve professional practice and accelerate student learning. Each team will provide on-site support in cycles that last typically last 6-8 weeks, supporting capacity-building at schools through a gradual release process in which school teams implement a post-support sustainment plan that is monitored by principals and superintendents.

     

    The Executive Director, Academic Response and Transformation will lead the design, professional development, implementation, evaluation and day-to-day operations of the team of specialists that will work across schools in need of targeted and rapid improvement. Under the direction of the Senior Executive Director, Continuous Improvement, their primary focus will be to ensure the development of high-leverage leadership/teaming structures to ensure the effective use of learner-centered and pedagogical practice being addressed and leveraged to inform rapid improvement cycles. They will lead the creation of effective guidance, expertise, tools, and materials that help educators at all instructional levels in high-need and subgroup areas, as multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that systems and structures are in place for continued organizational effectiveness, effective learning and teaching, and accelerated student achievement. 

     

    The Executive Director, Academic Response and Transformation will work closely with Borough/Citywide Offices (B/COs) to build their capacity to support select schools and to foster coherence between B/COs. Performs related work.

     

    REPORTS TO: Senior Executive Director, Continuous Improvement

     

    DIRECT REPORTS: Senior Director, Manager, Project Manager

     

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Executive Superintendent team members, Superintendents and Superintendent team members, Directors of Continuous Improvement, Borough Support Center Executive Directors, Borough Support Center teams, Office of First Deputy Chancellor Team

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide instructional and technical guidance to Executive Superintendents, Center Executive Directors, Directors, and key B/CO staff.
    • Strengthen organizational effectiveness to accelerate student achievement and school performance.
    • Leverage school level data to support schools’ most immediate needs.
    • Oversee the provision of intensive, hands-on coaching of principals, school leadership, teacher leaders, and classroom teachers to directly address Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP) goals.
    • Develop action plans aligned to schools’ root cause analysis; provide immediate support and attention.
    • Oversee on-site support to schools in extended coaching
    • Support capacity-building during culminating in a “solo period”.
    • Support principals in the monitoring of solo period.
    • Provide content area expertise as needed (ELL, SWD, ELA, and Math).
    • Provide both on-site as well as off-site support.
    • Develop professional activities to track evidence of practice, effectiveness, and impact.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

     

    MINIMUM

     

    Must currently possess or will possess by date of hire, New York State certification as a school district administrator (SDA) or school district leader (SDL).  PLEASE NOTE:  WE DO NOT ACCEPT INTERNSHIP CERTIFICATES.

    • A valid New York State certificate in one of the following: Special Education, ELL, Math (k-12), ELA (K-12), Guidance/Student Support Services.

    SALARY: $125,256+
