Responsibilities: • Take and document vital signs and medical history for patient records, take x-rays of patients’ mouths, and apply a topical anesthetic for dental procedures, if necessary • Get treatment rooms ready for examination and procedures by equipping them with necessary sterilized equipment, dental instruments, anesthetics, dental supplies, and materials • Assist dentists and dental hygienists during any procedures or examinations by handing off dental instruments, providing suction, and ensuring chair-side accessibility to the team • Schedule appointments for patient care follow up, answer any questions they may have about dental hygiene, and provide postoperative instructions with methods for infection control of the patients’ teeth and gums, after procedures • Welcome patient and explain dental care treatment plans so they feel comfortable during their appointment • Perform Pedo Prophies • Chairside assist doctors • Float assisting • Assemble instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area, positioning instruments for dentist’s access, suctioning, and passing instruments • Educate patients by giving oral hygiene instructions • Contribute to team effort by helping where needed • Welcome patient and explain dental care treatment plans so they feel comfortable during their appointment • Assure all dental office infection control policies and safety regulations are met by disinfecting and sterilizing all equipment and instruments after use • Help dentists and dental hygienists during procedures or examinations by providing suction, handing off dental instruments, and ensuring chair-side accessibility to the team • Answer any questions the patient may have about dental hygiene, schedule appointments for patient care follow-up, and provide postoperative instructions with methods for infection control of the patient's teeth and gums, after procedures Qualifications: • Current BLS/CPR certification is required • Proficiency with computers, and experience updating patient histories, and with dental software is necessary • Proficiency with computers, and experience updating patient histories, and with dental software is necessary • Certification or Associate’s Degree from a college or technical school training program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation is required • Need state licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) • Current Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA) in the State of MN or soon-to-be-licensed • Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service, organization, and excellent communication skills are preferred Compensation: $21 - $33 hourly
