Are you seeking an opportunity to spread love, compassion, and smiles as you provide accessible, quality dental care? At the G. W. Fralin Free Clinic, a ministry of the Rescue Mission of Roanoke, operates under a volunteer Medical Director and numerous other volunteer healthcare providers.
The Dental Assistant serves to provide comprehensive dental care to adults and children from our local community and the unsheltered population that we service. Responsible for assisting the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services in a free clinic setting. Responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies. Compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations; Clinic policies/procedures governing dental hygiene and the clinical provision of dental hygiene services as well as those relating to workplace safety, public health and confidentiality. Willingness to work as scheduled.
Reports to: Director of Healthcare Services
Hourly Rate: $15 - $16
Less than Part Time position with flexible scheduling options up to 8 hours per week
Clinic Hours 8:00 am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday; weekends as needed

Additionally, we are proud to partner with the Virginia Health Care Foundation, a private-public partnership dedicated to increasing access to care for uninsured Virginians and those in underserved areas.

Job Specific Qualifications:
Valid Virginia Dental License in good standing
Virginia X-Ray certification required
Completion of accredited course in dental assisting preferred
Current CPR (BLS) certificate
Maintain own state required insurance coverage
Experience in clerical setting, computer usage and office equipment
Ability to exercise good judgement
Exhibit critical thinking skills
Ability to lead for engagement of residential and community volunteers
Career Summary:
Does this sound like you? Someone who is interested in providing supportive dental care while serving in a non-profit, faith-based organization with a flexible schedule consisting of up to 6 hours per week. Provide administrative support, inventory control/management, maintain confidentiality of patient information/circumstances, equipment management/sterilization, and assist the dentist and dental hygienist as instructed. Ministering to adults and children through dentistry practices in a loving, caring, respectful and professional manner.
All team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the leadership/management with an expectation to complete these assignments as requested.
