Position summary
The Dental Receptionist plays a very important role at Guru Dental Group. This position requires
customer service, clerical and administrative skills, and the ability to multi task.
Specific Responsibilities:
Patient check in
• Welcome all patients to the practice with a friendly greeting and a smile
• Verify correct spelling of the patient’s name, address, phone number and email address.
• Verify all the new patient paper work is complete and signed.
• Obtain/update Insurance information
• For existing patients, ask for any changes to their demographic and insurance
information and update the patient file
• Ensure patient is notified regarding HIPPA.
• Remind patients of their co-pays at time of check-in and/or collect.
• Let the Dental assistants know when the patient is ready to be taken back for treatment
after verifying all the information
• Dress code is business attire or neat and clean scrubs
• Additional duties may be assigned
Administrative skills
• Answer telephones with a greeting, retrieve messages and manage answering machine
• Schedule new or existing patients when they call or request an online appointment
• Schedule next appointments as per the treatment plan recommended by the doctor
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefit breakdown one day prior to their appointments
• Monitor dashboard reports for patients who are late, or missed or broken
appointments
• Check out the patients and collect and post appropriate co-pay/deductible for the
procedures
• Help billing representative in sending insurance claims and updating patient ledger
• Shredding protected health information
• Send Insurance prior authorizations when necessary
• Verify Insurance benefits at least once every six months for existing patients
• Confirm appointments as per office policy
• Maintain and order office supplies
• Maintain a clean and professional workplace including patient entrance, waiting areas
and bathrooms
