    Overview

    As a Revenue Cycle Specialist for a Dental DSO (Dental Service Organization), you will play a crucial role in optimizing revenue generation, streamlining billing processes, and ensuring the financial health of the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the revenue cycle management activities related to dental practice billing, collections, and insurance claims. You will work closely with dental providers, billing teams, and insurance companies to maximize revenue, minimize denials, and ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    Revenue Cycle Oversight

    • Oversee and manage the end-to-end revenue cycle functions, including charge capture, claim submission, payment posting, denial management, and collections across multiple dental practices.
    • Ensure compliance with payor guidelines, coding regulations, and documentation standards to optimize revenue.
    • Identify revenue cycle inefficiencies and implement best practices to enhance financial performance.

    Partner Management

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for revenue cycle partners, including clearinghouses, and technology partners.
    • Evaluate partner performance, ensuring adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs) and addressing any gaps.
    • Collaborate with partners to enhance workflow efficiency and implement innovative RCM solutions.

    Quality Assurance & Compliance

    • Establish and enforce QA processes to ensure accurate billing, claim submissions, and reimbursement tracking.
    • Conduct regular audit reviews of billing and coding activities to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CDT codes).
    • Provide ongoing education to staff on regulatory changes and documentation best practices.

    Cash Flow & Financial Monitoring

    • Monitor and analyze cash flow trends, identifying areas for improvement and revenue maximization.
    • Develop strategies to reduce accounts receivable (A/R) aging and accelerate payment collection.
    • Collaborate with finance teams to improve forecasting and financial reporting accuracy.

    Onboarding & Implementing New RCM Technology

    • Lead the implementation of new revenue cycle technologies, ensuring a smooth transition for practices.
    • Train teams on new systems, billing software, and automation tools to improve efficiency.
    • Continuously assess and recommend upgrades or integrations that support revenue optimization.

    Training & Development

    • Provide comprehensive training to practice staff on billing, collections, claims management, and insurance verification.
    • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for revenue cycle workflows and ensure adherence.
    • Act as a mentor and resource for billing teams, guiding them on best practices and troubleshooting issues.

    Liaison Between Practices, Partners & Payors

    • Act as the main point of contact between dental practices, partners, and payors, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
    • Work closely with payors to address contractual disputes, denials, and reimbursement challenges.
    • Foster strong relationships with internal teams to align revenue cycle objectives with overall business goals.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Experience in revenue cycle management within a dental or healthcare setting, preferably a Dental Service Organization (DSO), required.
    • Strong knowledge of dental billing, insurance claims, and reimbursement processes.
    • Proficiency in dental coding systems (e.g., CDT codes) and revenue cycle software.
    • Experience with RCM technology implementation and vendor management.
    • Strong analytical skills and experience with cash flow monitoring and financial reporting.
    • Exceptional communication and leadership skills to manage vendor relationships and support practice teams.
    • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Occasional standing, bending, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
