    Job Description

    AECOM has a unique opportunity for a Deputy Department / Program Manager experienced with environmental remediation to be based in any AECOM office in California. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the performance of a group of major programs and/or projects to assure the achievement of internal and client-facing KPIs and project goals. The position requires an especially accomplished individual to interface with clients, lead and support business development opportunities, and lead/influence solutions and strategies for a large portfolio of remediation sites. Applicants with verifiable experience in prominent roles performing and managing investigation/cleanup of petroleum impacts are highly preferred.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    Operations:

    • Acts as a point of escalation for project issues and makes recommendations to improve performance. This may include addressing project resourcing gaps, supporting technical issues, resolving invoicing and cash collection challenges, addressing subconsultant and vendor concerns, etc.
    • In support of Department Manager, drives monthly, quarterly, and annual performance related to financial forecasting
    • Works alongside Department Manager to drive strong working capital performance within the department by actively monitoring cash flow (Unbilled, Billed AR, and DSO)
    • Drives consistent project management practices and procedures in alignment with AECOM Project Delivery System (PDS) and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
    • Assists Department Manager to maintain departmental compliance with Business Line Pricing guidance and DOA approval framework
    • Assists Department Manager to Ensure the accuracy of the department’s Sales pipeline data

    Project Delivery :

    • Drives program performance to meet and/or exceed client satisfaction and KPIs
    • Drives business performance and the attainment and exceedance of internal KPIs
    • Develops and formulates solutions to client problems/issues
    • Participates in project reviews of major program/project dashboards/deep dives to identify issues and improve performance
    • Embraces work flow optimization and adoption of digital tools
    • Actively integrates global resources into project delivery and manages the change associated with this transition

    People:

    • Builds, maintains, and facilitates trusting relationships with key contacts across the depth and breadth of client organizations
    • Serves as a focal point for major issue resolution, and provide rapid follow-up to address concerns
    • Actively share people management responsibilities with the program team
    • Participates in feedback for Project Managers to assure client satisfaction and long-term growth
    • Health and safety stewardship, including local field visits

    Business Development:

    • Works collaboratively with Client Account Managers and Environmental Business Line Leadership to grow profitable backlog and ensure financial success of their respective client program
    • Develops budgets that allow for business development portfolio management, tracking & optimizing wins and bookings, and project oversight
    • Leads capture strategies for key pursuits and major projects within the program, ensures those strategies yield high capture rates, grows the business and relevant technical capabilities

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant remediation experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Ability to travel for on-site meetings and to develop client relationships
    • Valid Driver's License, subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening
    • PG or PE license

    Preferred Qualifications

    • At least 12 years overall professional experience with at least 6 of those years in a prominent role on identifiable remediation programs
    • Verifiable experience in prominent roles performing and managing investigation/remediation of chemical / industrial / refining sites
    • Experienced people manager
    • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal
    • Master's Degree a plus in Geology, Engineering, Science or related field.
    • Excellent client management skills.
    • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
    • Superior communication skills (writing, editing, and reporting) for a wide variety of audiences.
    • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery.
    • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.
    • Strong understanding and has led professional teams in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies.
