Job Description
Transformation School Leader Managers play a critical role in advancing KIPP Texas mission to create joyful, academically excellent schools. As a Transformation School Leader Manager you will provide strategic support and accountability to a cohort of KIPP Texas transformation schools to rapidly improve student achievement outcomes. The Transformation School Leader Manager is responsible for oversight of the implementation of KIPP TX programmatic oversight and ensuring high-quality supervision of the school improvement process at assigned schools. Through maintaining a laser-focus on excellence, fairness, and rapid improvement, the Transformation School Leader Manager develops and manages a cohort of transformation school leaders, and serves as an integral member of the KIPP Texas transformation leadership team, which is responsible for driving the overall direction and strategy for KIPP TX’s transformation work. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced, dynamic systems-level turnaround leader to prove positive change in preparing students with the skills to pursue the paths they choose - with a particular focus on building a college-going culture. This position is a strong fit for senior-level educational leaders who have a proven track record of managing high-stakes school improvement efforts and developing instructional leadership capacity.
This leader must be adept at balancing collaboration with independent decision-making and be comfortable navigating ambiguity to achieve results. The Transformation School Leader Manager must be skilled in directive performance management structures, ensuring high expectations, clear accountability, and coaching leaders through difficult yet necessary conversations that drive change.
As a Transformation School Leader Manager you will be accountable to following organization wide goals:

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Lead KIPP TX’s School Leaders
Manage, supervise, and evaluate a cohort of transformation school leaders (typically 3-5) to improve schools and student achievement outcomes.
Own the development and implementation of professional learning for School Leaders and Assistant Principals of Instruction, ensuring alignment with rigorous academic and instructional priorities.
Recognize when to engage in difficult conversations and execute them with skill to ensure sustained school improvement.
Coordinate and implement high-impact actions to provide strategic assistance and remove barriers for transformation schools.
Supports alignment of key resources to align with school improvement strategy and implementation plan.
Champion KIPP TX core values and build a community of team and family members dedicated to excellence, persistence, belongingness, teamwork, and joy.
Communicate school improvement priorities to key stakeholders, including state-wide departments and schools, and ensure that staff are aligning to critical needs to sustain school improvement.
Collaborate with the Superintendent of Transformation and Talent Team to recruit and hire exceptional school leaders and assistant principals focused on school improvement efforts.
Coach transformation school leaders to strengthen leadership competencies in academics, school culture, people management and team leadership talent.
Nurture a healthy school leadership pipeline and engage in regional and organization succession planning efforts.
Build Academically Excellent and Joyful Schools
Support school leaders to internalize and implement KIPP TX’s academic and school culture strategy within and across school campuses.
Provide clear, directive performance management to school leaders to drive results.
Facilitate annual planning processes, including master schedule development, with a cohort of school leaders in alignment with regional and state-wide goals.
Maintain high visibility in assigned transformational schools providing targeted feedback on classroom instruction, lesson internalization and data meetings, observation and debrief cycles, and professional learning.
Organize and implement mechanisms to monitor progress towards short and long term goals and initiatives.
Develop a deep understanding of KIPP TX’s high - quality instructional materials and facilitate school leaders capacity for strong implementation at their respective school campuses.
Examine student learning and culture data within and across schools to identify school and cohort priorities.
Collaborate with regional leadership and the state-wide academics and operations departments to implement initiatives aligned to school, cohort, and state-wide priorities.
Champion emergent bilingual students with IEPs and 504s to receive exceptional services and support, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Supports the development of strong school operational systems and processes with a focus on data collection, scheduling, and Special Education programs and services.
Serve as member of Transformation Cohort Leadership Team
Participates in KIPP Texas transformation leadership team to oversee implementation of short and long-term strategy to reach regional and state-wide goals.
Partners with leadership to identify region-wide gaps to goals and responds with aligned interventions.
Works with the School Support Partners team to ensure that all of the operations, technology, talent, and financial needs of the schools are met.
Liaises with external stakeholders, community agencies, donors, and other third-party constituencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university highly preferred.
3 years of teaching experience with a record of results of leading students to significant academic growth.
5-10 years experience as a school leader leading schools serving a similar student population to KIPP Texas; experience leading school improvement and elementary experience preferred.
3-5 years experience managing school leaders, particularly in school improvement settings.
Senior leadership or executive leadership experience in large school districts strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success leading teams to accelerate progress for students in transformation settings.

The starting point for the salary range for this position is $155,000 and is commensurate upon experience and internal-equity.

Daily travel required throughout the region to school sites.
Some travel required to other KIPP TX regions for workshops, conferences, or meetings (20-30%).
